Dontai Anthony Ethridge, better known online as the rapper, YouTuber, gamer and Twitch streamer ImDontai, was born under the zodiac sign of Virgo on 2 September 1992, in Norfolk, Virginia USA, thus he holds American nationality and his ethnicity is African-American.
He rose to prominence for his react videos especially related to rap music, and besides these, he’s been uploading a wide range of funny and entertaining videos, such as interviews, vlogs, roasts, movie reviews and gaming, among others. Besides his main channel, ImDontai has two more, entitled ImDontai Gaming, and ImStillDontai, which he created onto which he uploads his best Twitch stream moments.
Early life and education
ImDontai spent the first years of his life in New Jersey, with his maternal grandparents, since his father, whose name he hasn’t revealed, was in jail, and his mother, Teressa, worked as a nurse and provided for herself and ImDontai’s three sisters – no one could help her with the newborn baby, so her parents took ImDontai to take care of him.
When he was old enough to attend kindergarten, his mother took him with her and his sisters, Nya, Monet and Mahogany; when he was in a middle school, his father get out of the prison and visited him and his sisters several times, but then stopped coming, and ImDontai hasn;t seen him again.
As a youngster, ImDontai developed an interest in music, and enjoyed listening to rap, which led to his wish to become a rapper; he started writing lyrics and music, which he performed on local radio.

Another passion he had was comedy, and even his classmates voted him ‘Class Clown’, and dubbed him ‘Most likely person to be on Comedy Central’. Many people may be surprised, but his favorite subject in school was math – he was always ahead of the rest of the class, and was taking advanced lessons.
Speaking of ImDontai’s educational background, he attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2011, he enrolled at Norfolk Community College, majoring in Criminal Justice, but dropped out of college after a few semesters just a few credits shy of obtaining his associate’s degree.
Music career
After leaving college, ImDontai worked various jobs to provide for himself and help his mother financially – his first job was at Wendy’s where he worked the grill, and then he was a janitor in a local hospital, before he began working in a painting company as a sales associate, although as he said, he hated this job.

He felt that he was at the bottom of his life, and he even contemplated suicide, but after a talk with his mother who gave him a year to chase his dream, he saw his music as a light at the end of the tunnel.
The person who helped him the most with his music career was the late rapper XXXTentacion, who shouted his name in his King’s Dead Freestyle, which brought ImDontai recognition among other rappers who also supported him.
His YouTube career really kicked-off when he released his debut album “Bottled Emotions” in 2018, followed by his albums “Haphazard” in 2019, and “Unburden” released in 2020. His fans can enjoy his music on YouTube, SoundCloud, Deezer, and Spotify.

Although ImDontai established his gaming channel first, his now-main channel was launched on 23 April 2015, and it’s today subscribed to by nearly three million people, and all of his videos combined have gained over 400 million views.
His first video – “50 Shades of Grey (Movie Review)” – was uploaded on 18 May 2015, and has been viewed over 65,000 times, and then he started uploading his reaction videos related to various topics from games and movies to rap music.

ImDontai’s number one most viewed video “NY King Returns? | 6ix9ine – GOOBA (Music Video) | Reaction [Twitch Highlight]” was uploaded on 9 May 2020, and has been seen over four million times.
The second most viewed video on ImDontai’s channel “My GUY! | Joey Badass & XXXTentacion King’s Dead Freestyle | Reaction” was uploaded on 10 March 2018, and it has gained over 3.5 million views, and in the video, you can see how his friendship with the late rapper started.
ImDontai’s third most popular video “HE SOUNDS JUST LIKE HIM! | XXXTENTACION Voice TROLLING on FORTNITE! | Reaction” uploaded on 17 August 2018 has been viewed over three million times, and has over 125,000 likes.
Presence on social media platforms
ImDontai has an Instagram account that’s followed by over a million people, although he’s just 11 posts on it. The first photo was posted on his Instagram on 14 March 2015, as he said, was almost the last one he had ever taken in his life.

There has got to be more,’ – this was an alarm for his mother to talk with him about his life and his dreams, and later on, ImDontai confessed that that was the night when he was thinking about killing himself.
His Twitch stream account launched on 6 February 2015, has been followed by over 1.5 million people, and his live streams are usually watched by around 15,000 viewers.

Love life and relationships
ImDontai hasn’t been the subject of any rumors and controversies concerning his love life and his sexual orientation, since he’s opened up about his relationship with his long-term girlfriend Danielle, from the moment he became popular. Danielle now goes by the name ImDanielle, and is also a Twitch streamer and YouTuber.
The two were nine years together before they tied the knot on 3 August 2020; unfortunately in April 2022, they lost their first child due to miscarriage. In one of his live streams on Twitch, ImDontai spoke about what happened, and people were amazed how he managed to stay positive after the sadness he felt.
